Although dental implant is a highly successful procedure but as some surgery may fail due to variety of internal and external factors, so can dental implant. The following can be reasons behind dental implant failure:
- Jawbone may fail to fuse together properly with the implant resulting in implant getting loose or falling out.
- Infection can occur due to presence of bacteria during oral surgery or any time post-surgery due to poor dental hygiene.
- The surrounding tissue, specifically the nerves can be damaged if an implant is placed too close to a nerve. It can cause severe and chronic pain, tingling or numbness in cheek, gums, tongue, lips or chin.
Treatment for failure:
We will replace with other implant and some times we will wait for 3 months.
